I hit a stride in working on Lara's sweater. It is a cardigan, and the back and front are knit as one piece, and then you break at the arm holes. I had finished the first side, and had gotten bored and frustrated and went off and knit lace. Tonight I managed to finish the back and the other side. I was going to go to bed an hour ago, but I was just looking at it and going "there's less than 10 rows left, and it's easy knitting at this point, so..."
There is a mistaken, but no one will know it's there but me. And even I can barely see it.

I got a sticker for my phone and now it looks like Starry Night. I think it's pretty.

It has gotten cold and dry enough that my hands and lips are cracking. I have been slathering Eucerin and Burt's Bees on all day, and it is barely helping.

Inhalers are amazing things. I slept with my window open last night (my house smells like mildew, see earlier entry about the basement flooding), and I woke up at 5:30 cause Tracy's alarm clock went off (she went to San Francisco early Thursday morning). I lay in bed and wheezed. Eventually I fell back to sleep. When I woke up for real, I remembered my inhaler, and used it, and suddenly I could breathe properly again.

After our basement (which is Brianne's room) flooded this weekend, ruining her headboard, my mom asked if we have renter's insurance. Which we don't. Do any of you (who rent) have renters insurance? My very brief search online yesterday seemed to show that it would be incredibly affordable.

The picture came out yellower than it actually was, but we mixed pumpkin butter with cream cheese to put on the bread. It was awesome. _

My mom bought a bushel of second apples. We made gallons and gallons of fresh applesauce. Applesauce is spectacular with potato pancakes. _

The carrot soup. This was a last minute addition to our meal, mostly because we realized we had like 10 pounds of carrots. I had never made carrot soup before, but it was quite tasty. _

The most random thing on my desk is the single chopstick that's sitting there. I left it there so that I could stick my hair back with something other than a pencil or pen (I always walk out with the pencil stuck in my hair, which leads to a complete derth of pencils in my office) on days when it was getting in my way and I didn't have a rubber band. Now my hair is two inches shorter and I can't stick it up like that.

How often do you just want to reach into a book and scream at a character for being an idiot? Never mind that I have, in fact, read The Ill Made Night before, I am continually amazed at Lancelot's stupidity for falling not once but twice for someone telling him Elaine is Guenever.

I had been missing rain, and now it is here, and now it is making me feel all tired and mopey. It is making me crave bright bright colors, and then I go and wear black anyway. (Most of my clothes are black. This is nothing new, it just is.) I want some sort of super-saturated pink or turquoise or something to fight away the bleakness of the rain.

Despite the fact that none of the people involved in this argument last night read my blog, I was so right. If you double click on the icon in the left corner of a window, it totally closes the window in XP.

Word is fairly convinced, I swear, that advise should always be advice. Never mind that I'm using it as a verb, apparently it should always be the noun.
