Okay, so the vast majority of commenters would prefer themselves to be skinny and plain. What I'd like to know now is, what about your mate? Same or different?

Question of the day: If you could either be skinny and plain of face or fat and beautiful, which would you choose? Note that in this case skinny means having the ideal body that people would stop and notice (not skeletal), fat means being obese enough that people would also stop and notice (perhaps in disgust), the plainness and beauty are relative to the weight, as well. The more ideal the body, the plainer the face, etc.

Moss and I were speculating about tape worm weight loss earlier, which led to some googling on the subject. Snopes revealed that the Maria Callas story is false. She did have tape worms, but not intentionally. She just ate a lot of raw beef. Anyway, three sites were too fun (and by fun, I mean bizarre, of course) not to share.
1) Dr. Alpheus Myers of Logansport, IN invented a tape worm trap in 1854, and you can see the engraving of it, and also read the patent (issued in 1855).
2) this is a page for kids, letting them know all about how they might get worms, what can be done to treat them, and how to prevent them. Be sure to check out the helpful verse at the bottom of the page. Really.
3) Not everyone is down on worms, though. Dr. Joel Weinstock believes they might be helpful to people with conditions such as ulcerative colitis. You can read all about it here, but be warned, there are pictures!

Sarah pointed out the Wikipedia definition of Jew, but I thought it might be nice to give another resource, as well. Tracy Rich, a law librarian and self-proclaimed traditional, observant Jew, has put together a wonderful Jew FAQ with information divided into beginning, intermediate and advanced levels.

So, I only need ten more photographs to make my collection of fifty complete. This is exciting.
Also, though I have posted this elsewhere, I have to share my fiction mash-ups.
The King and I Capture the Castle
Upon Anna's urging, the King of Siam to removes his family to a crumbling castle in England for safekeeping. Once there, he falls in love with her materialistic sister. (Alternately, The King and I, Robot)
Gaudy Night of the Living Dead
Harriet Vane returns to Oxford only to find it overrun with zombies.

After I went to the post office this afternoon, I decided some afternoon diversion was necessary. I knew we needed toilet paper, so I went to the health food store that's next to the post office to pick some up.I had no cash on me, so I knew I was going to need to buy more than just toilet paper to make sure I could use my debit card. Then I had a great idea. What's more fun than playing make believe? Not much! So I decided to make believe I was a vegan. The rule was I could only buy foods I woud actually eat if they weren't vegan. I have no ide why, but pretending to be a vegan was very entertaining. I'm going to go eat some macaroni and soy cheese now. I'll report back later.

You may remember that one of my professors from Ball State was charged with trespassing last year (a ridiculous charge). Though he and his wife were both declared guilty by a jury earlier this year, their sentence was pleasingly light. Read about it.

Today is Jenny's Birthday. In honor of it, Moss and Remi and I all made songs for her. You can hear them by going to here for Remi's, here for mine, and here for Moss's. Since Jenny is so cool, I know everyone will want to wish her a happy birthday. You can do this by logging onto AIM and asking me to invite you into Jenny's Birthday Chat (Note: Moss and I are going to leave the house for a little while, so I will not be around until roughly 4 p.m. PST, but after that it is fair game). Hope to see you there.

Thinking about speedwriting goodness demain. It will be my last free weekday to use l'ordinateur as I start work on Monday. I had a meeting on Wednesday and they presented me with a job agreement which states that I will commit myself to a minimum of 47 hours a week on average (and since it's commission based I am exempt from receiving overtime, too), so you can expect to see less of me. Call it a fairwell speedwrite daytime virtual Par-tay if you will, but I fully expect Moira and Martin to give me at least one piddling session. Also maybe a little appearance by the Annelet? And of course everyone else is welcome, too. So. Until then.

Sometimes you google people and find out sad things. Then you have to wonder if maybe you shouldn't have tried to find out what became of a particular person. Maybe you'd have been better off with your speculation that everyone you haven't kept up with is fine and leading a pleasant life. But it wouldn't be true, and I suppose it's good to know the truth, isn't it?
