Octopodes are not hateful, they are LOOOOOVING. How can an octopus hate, when it has three hearts? And long, swishy tentacles.

Okay, I think we have a winner. I will be the NaNoFairy. I have my big white angel dress from a few years back and lavender wings (since lavender is the official NaNoColor this year), and Lavender Sparkle Fish is my familiar. I can keep her tucked in my sash or my bosom (though Moss may get jealous). Ooh, and I also have lavender nail polish. And maybe I'll go down to the dollar store and see if those headbands are still there... If I stretch before I go, and walk briskly, that counts as exercise, right? Maybe I can get one of those yummy Odwalla drinks while I am at the store, too, since we have a distinct lack of good smoothie places in Healdsburg.

*Wash Dishes.
*Exercise. I clearly need to do something to get my energy up. I think maybe some stretching and then some rollerblading is in order. Okay, no rollerblading, but still, walking and stretching.
*Find a costume. It's Halloween, and I still don't know what to be. This is unacceptable.
*Spend time filling out character sheets and trying to make a plot that resembles a plot at all.
*Figure out what to make for dinner. Tacos!
*Go buy candy in case we have trick-or-treaters, and other necessary grocery type things.
*Write the rest of the one story that I started earlier in the month with the story generator thing. This is part of my new "Finish what you start" plan. I did it! Hurrah! It may suck, but it is a finished story!
*Host NaNoLaunch Chat.

I should have made another to-do list today. The one yesterday worked wonders. Today has been markedly less productive. My mother called and asked why I am not already submitting stories and articles to magazines. I said that it's not as simple as it sounds, but part of me thinks that was laziness and fear talking. Why have I not tried to publish anything? Why have I not written anything publishable? Sigh. At least I've done a good job with the writing exercises this month. They may not be shining gems of perfect prose, but they're there at all. At last count the NaNoBlog had something like 19,000 words in it. 19,000 new words is better than none. Right?

I need to start making to-do lists. I think I'll start now.
*Take a shower (wash hair)
*Pay bill online
*Write eurochecks and place them in envelopes. Address said envelopes.
*Take envelopes to the post office and mail them. (Well, blue mailbox on corner, but same end effect, really.)
*Take printed copy of article and read it thoroughly (at a cafe?)
*Wash dishes
*Update writing exercises on NaNoBlog.

The question of the day: How many people does it take to have an orgy?
Let us first consult the dictionary. If we are to believe this definition, then it is non-number specific. It does seem to lend itself to larger numbers rather than smaller ones, though, doesn't it?
We must then consider than an orgy is rather like a party in this respect. A pary is a social gathering with an unspecified number of people. Let's look at the definition of party. According to the seventh definition, we were not amiss in comparing an orgy with a party, but we still have no specific numbers.
We see that a party, aside from a social gathering is also a group. How many people or objects comprise a group? Again we see non-specific numbers for the most part, though some definitions allow for groups of two or more. By this evidence, may we say that technically an orgy is possible with two or more people? Or even, since the definition of orgy is so non-specific, with one or more person?
If we return to the definition of orgy, we see that is is considered a revel. Let us then look at revel more closely. If a revel is an act of unrestrained merrymaking, it could be done by only one person, technically speaking, couldn't it? But the examples given speak of plurals. We have "the wedding party" and a group of co-workers.
The wedding party brings us back to party, which upon second inspection, might lead us to gathering. Gathering brings us back to group again with "To come together in a group: assemble," which leads back to the technical possibility of two or more. The example listed, "A crowd gathered in the lobby," seems to suggest a larger number, though.
The number for a crowd is also not specified, but clearly large. An orgy, however (or a party, or a gathering), need not have a crowd of people. Perhaps we should say an orgy/party/gathering necessitates a group of several people.
How many, then, is several? Ah, I think we've found our answer. An orgy may by technical loopholes consist of only one person or more, but I think I still believe it needs at least several to be a proper orgy. That is to say, "a number more than two or three but not many."

I went outside just a few minutes ago to switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer, and the sky was brilliant. The clouds were fiery pink against the deepening blue of nightfall. It took my breath away. On the way out of the laundry room (in the backyard gravel area), there was a cat in the window of the apartment next to the stairwell. It was a grey cat, and it mrowed at me. By the time I had crossed through the hallway and into the parking lot the sky had become a normal sky. I thought about how lucky I was to have seen it at just the right moment. It felt like a secret just between the universe and me.

Things that happen when you've been on the road too long:
*You think, "Hey, Kid Rock is pretty good, actually. Surprised I never noticed that."
*You see a deck of Saddam Hussein & Co. cards and think, "You know, I should buy those. Then we could play war with the Bush administration cards that Moss has!"
*Tchaikovsky's "Russian Dance" fromThe Nutcracker comes onto the mp3 player and you begin headbanging.

Milkshake ingredients are NOT supposed to spill all over the kitchen floor! Nooo! On the upside, I suppose using twice the amount of ice creamI would have (and thereby finishing off the Breyer's vanilla) did free up more freezer space so that the Double Rainbow container can now take its rightful place. And the shake is good. So all's well that end's well and no use crying over spilt milk(shake), right?
