Cut to the screen, at which the apes are so attentively gazing. In a setting such as only Semiramis or Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer could have imagined we see a bosomy young female baboon, in a shell-pink evening gown, her mouth painted purple, her muzzle powdered mauve, her fiery red eyes ringed with mascara. Swaying as voluptuously as the shortness of her hind legs will permit her to do, she walks onto the brightly illuminated stage of a night club and, to the clapping of two or three hundred pair of hairy hands, aproaches the Louis XV microphone. Behind her, on all fours and secured by a light steel chain attached to a dog collar, comes Michael Faraday. _

how to make a hitchcock movie even more excruciating than usual:

i) banal comments from a peon of the galaxy in the seat next to yours {clutching fingers of death} (including "I don't trust him! I think he's someone he doesn't seem to be!" "That's the guy! The murderer! Oh, no!" and "oooh, that was subtle, wasn't it?")

ii) the sound cuts off every time there's a harrowing climax, and the projectionist has to rewind, to boos and hysterical giggling

iii) I don't think I'll say anything about Ingrid Bergman, thanks very much

iv) but at least she has nothing to do with Ayn Rand, unlike

v) Gregory Peck

vi) pop psychology

vii) insufficiently salted popcorn

viii) what's 5'3", dark hair, glasses, sits in the row in front of you, makes abject mooning cow eyes whenever the music gets gushy, and cuts grass?!?!

ix) but, thank the jazz ants, Dali makes everything grand. _

mumble mumble
sauce and tumble
parrot through the night:
stir it, smash it,
pitch it, hash it,
stuff it, sweep it,
hoard it, heap it,
glum, akimbo
limp to limbo...

There once was a flibbertigibbet,
who couldn't pronounce "ribbit, ribbit!"
he'd always go "roob!"
or "rabbabbaboob!"
or "don't mind me, sailor, just fib it..." _

while rooting around for the previous, I came across a story, not entirely hard to find on the 'net of today, involving angst and sorrow and young love and all that rot. It contains the paragraph:

"Plurality is not in vogue and one attenuates constantly the range of possibilities that might for the remotest reason entail a sizable portion of the joy quanta. Suddenly it struck him that so much thought is not necessary. A single drop of tear trickled down his cheek. He quickly rubbed it. The airhostess offered him a glass or orange juice. He drank all of it. He was ready for Fall semester."
