As long as any of the code in any module of Wobble is anything less then gloriously perfectly simple, I can't bear to work on any part of the program, even if the complex bits are well isolated from the rest of it. Currently, the complex and hairy part of Wobble is the storage system. So. Guess I better start in on the storage system. Simplify! Simplify! _

I've had this bloglet for somewhere in the neighborhood of three years. I think it was during essay writing that I'd originally written the program, though I'm not sure of that. So strange to think of it. _

Brendan O'Neill's "Being antiwar isn't about the oil" article in the Christian Science Monitor [via No War Blog] would be very useful if only he had taken the time to properly discredit the argument, rather than just denouncing it very loudly. _

Check out this post on MetaFilter. It starts out with a link to a pretty neat annotated hypertext version of "The Waste Land" (cool in itself, for all I don't really like Eliot), and it keeps getting better as people post more and more similar sorts of things. _

So I figured out why my code wasn't doing this one thing I needed it to do. See, I'd been looking for what the problem was with the current code that was making it break. But as it turns out, the real problem was that I never tried to tell it to do what I wanted it to do. At all. _

Got it! Okay, there's a working Blogger API interface to bloglet at http://www.m14m.net/cgi-bin/blogletBloggerAPI.py

Your username and blogid are both the name of the directory where your blog is stored. It supports newPost, getPost, and getRecentPosts. It doesn't support editing or deleting, 'cause that's too hard (see below). It should work okay, but no promises. I'll probably be using it regularly, though.

If you don't understand any of this, just don't worry about it.

Update: I take that back. I still don't have support for deletion, 'cause I don't really like outright deletion anyway, but I managed to hack in some support for editing. That means that, if you have a Blogger API client, you can go back and edit your old entries on your blog (as long as they're still on the front page). It's kind of crude. I can't promise it will work right, and I half suspect that it will occasionally end up deleting your page, but it will tend to do essentially the right thing. So yeah, that's maybe kinda cool. One note: an edit won't take fully until you post your first entry after making the edit. This is a bit of a wart, but it's small enough and hard enough to change that I'm leaving it in for now. If you find any other bugs, let me know. _

I feel bad going to work severely sleep-deprived, as I did yesterday. (Indeed, I was almost falling asleep at a few points during the day). On the other hand, when, as yesterday, I also manage to clear most of my bug list, with clear and functional code, it's hard to feel too bad about it. _
