Tori's Bloglet

It's all very strange. I had dreams all night about people dying. I had gotten home from work, and there was a message on the kitchen counter telling me that Margaret had called and that there was a message on the answering machine. I thought this was all well and good, and was happy to call Margaret back, but I didn't know her number off the top of my head, so I listened to the message, and her voice got shakier and weirder as the message continued, and I started to think something was wrong, and I called her up. And I am sad. Medora was great, she was nice, and sweet and happy, and it doesn't seem to be registering that she is gone. _

I posted that because I wanted something like ice cream, and there is none. Despite the fact that no one but me (or so I thought) ate the coconut sorbet. Pout. _

Sometimes I think the only reason Marija is a vegan is so she can feel morally superior to everyone else, and because otherwise she would eat something like a gallon of ice cream a day. She decided to give up on being a vegan in Florida, as it is really extremely hard to even be a vegetarian below the Mason Dixon line, and all she wanted to eat was ice cream, and she ate like two milkshakes a day. _

I just ordered a new pen, a replacement for the lovely pen that I bought in Bath, which I lost when I went to see Return of the King and slept at Jamie's. I hadn't been expecting to sleep at Jamie's, so I had no pjs, so I slept in my clothes, and I took everything out of my pockets, and in so doing lost my pen, which had been in my pocket. Everything else that had been in my pocket I found, and so of course, as soon as I go back to Jamie's, I will find my pen. But in the meantime, I will get a new pen. _

And I am home. The flights home seemed to take less time, probably because it was far more direct. (Harrisburg to Chicago to Tampa is just silly; whereas Tampa to Dulles to Harrisburg almost makes sense.) We saw our lake on our way into the airport, and that was just cool. _

We went to visit my best friends from when I was very very small yeseterday. I aven't been to their house since they moved from PA to Flriad, and it was interesting to ge there at their house in Florida, cause it looks exactly the same, except that one was an old Colonial farmhouse, and one was a barely subtropical (by barely, I mean they say it's tropical at the bottom of their island, and that at the bottom of their island people grow coconuts) house in Florida. But the furniture was the same, and they are the same people they always were. They have a two year old dog who looks almost exactly like their old dog, and they still have one of the same cats (several of their cats were eaten by bobcats). And we saw Portugese Men of War (Man of Wars? Men of Wars?), which are gorgeous jellyfish, but they were entirely unnerving. Lyndsay is graduating from college in the Spring, witha major in advertising, because it would take too many extra classes to switch majors (she has switched majors several times, and colleges with majors, and has decided to stick it out where she is.) _

Christmas was lovely and surreal, with the palm trees with lights instead of snow. We spent the day with Chris's little sister, and her four daughters, who are totally adorable charming children. _

So, we are in Florida. There is a business center in the hotel, which is open for anyone who wants to use it. The hotel is a resort sort of thing, and it's all funky and cool. We can use paddle boats, and if they gulf weren't "frigid" we could us water trykes. I've wanted to use a water tryke for years and years. There are pools and pools and I get lost everytime I try to go anywhere, so I took Jamie with me when I was sent off to figure out what we're doing about dinner tonight. _

The one thing they particularly screwed up in in the Lord of the Rings movies was the way the did Aragorn. In the books (I thought) he was prepared all along to go off and become king, that he had set out from Rivendell to become king of Gondor, and would help Frodo out along the way. His story was that of a hero who was going out to fulfill his destiny, and that was exactly what he wanted to do. In the movies, they appeared to make him a little more retiscent about what he wanted, more uncertain. It annoys me a bit. What annoys me more is, of course, still Faramir. He was in the books second to Aragorn, but in the movie they made him second to Boromir. _

I loved Return of the King. Even when I felt it was being ridiculously Star Wars (fight scenes), even though I wanted the Houses of Healing, because that made everything alright for Faramir and Eowyn, and I thought it was a bit ridiculous that they showed the bit with Sauron calling Aragorn without the Aragorn wrenching the Palantir away from Sauron's use. I was generally blown away, and was happy with it all. The Return of the King makes me love Sam deeply and deeply, I think he is amazing. And Faramir, oh poor Faramir, my heart broke for Faramir. _

I was going to post a blog entry with a link to the fox trot from a few days ago where Paige was going gaga over Orlando Bloom's eyes with a query as to why anyone would go gaga for Orlando's eyes when the screen could be filled with Elijah's amazing blue eyes, but the blogbot is missing, and I have forgotten just about everything I ever learned in the way of html code, which was like three things, and shouldn't be that hard. _
