Last night, I realized that my free ticket to see The Two Towers was about to expire, so I went off to see it again. The movie theatre was full. The trash can was full of the stuff around the free tickets, so I figure that a lot of other people realized their free tickets were about to expire, and didn't want to spend their New Year's Eve watching The Two Towers. I almost liked it better the second time.

Yesterday I tried to tie my hair in a knot, cause I always did that when I had nothing to hold it back with, and it didn't stick. My sister's response was, ha ha, told you it was unhealthy.

My sister and I watched the Hamlet that came out in 2000 with Ethan Hawke this evening. I do actually quite like it. I am most particularly struck by their Ophelia.

My mom got me a down alternative comforter for Christmas (okay, I got me this comforter, cause I was the one doing the online shopping junk, but she paid for it). It's so warm and cozy. And I got down alternative pillows as well, and now my bed is awesome.

I got my hair cut yesterday, and she took of rather a lot of hair. I think it's at least a foot shorter than it used to be. I'm rather upset, cause I wanted it to stay long.

Woke up this morning freezing. Wrapped up under two blankets, the bits of me that weren't under wraps were freezing. Went to sit down at computer to check email and whatnot, realized I should put my clothes in the drier. Went to laundry room, and the washing machine was empty. Thought this was odd, looked in the drier, and there were someone else's clothes. So I looked around for a while, and eventually found my clothes, all clean, in the living. Opened the wood stove to put on another log, cause it was just glowing embers, but still hot enough that it would catch anything right away, and got scared away when the doors were open, decided to come back when it's 50 degrees cooler. (Not actually as random as it seems, that would be the bottom of the black section.)

I got my dad Spiderman for Christmas, to be from my brother, sister and I. I debated between it Lawrence of Arabia and The Fellowship of the Ring. I hope he doesn't already have it.

They are playing most of the characters in The Lord of the Rings too young. I was sort of looking forward to Legolas wandering saying thins like "oh, if only I could see ((such and such, ents, whatever)) again, then I would feel young again."

So, I went back into the living room, and looked at the woodstove, and there was a flame! I didn't really know how to deal with it, so I added more wood, and then it caught, and I actually managed to get a fire! I was so excited! 4 hours, that's all it took.

So, more than two hours after I first tried to start this fire, I have decided to close to the doors to the woodstove and let the thing die due to lack of oxygen. Then, when it cools, I will remove all the massive amounts of ash in the woodstove, as well as the charred logs from the fire I've been trying to build, and maybe start over.

My stepbrother made $230 yesterday, waiting tables. I'm furiously jealous. It made me think that maybe next year I should live at home and wait tables at Stocks, just to save money. I've been thinking that maybe I should take a year off anyway, cause I'm feeling educationally fried right now, and not ready to go to grad school where I would be writing papers. (Aah! Papers!) Then I was thinking that if I'm not at school, I want to do something cool, that is not living at home waiting tables in Harrisburg. If I'm going to save up money waiting tables, I want to do it somewhere that's not Harrisburg. And maybe in this year off, I will translate a play. Not sure what play, right now I'm thinking Oedipus at Colonus, but that's really just cause that's the only Greek text I have. Someday I want to translate Hecuba and The Trojan Women, but I think I should work on something that I don't care about as much to get my feet wet in translating again.
