Starburst is attempting to introduce a new flavour. The new flavour is coming out white, as the mystery flavour, and you are meant to try to guess what it is. There was a commercial where there was a guy wandering around the produce section sort of randomly grabbing fruits, and tasting them to compare. I find this a bit disturbing; you ought to be able to figure out what the new flavour is without comparing it to the real things, I think. I bought a bag of Starburst jellybeans the other day, cause I think they are very tasty jelly beans. I think the white is peach. _

I want a recycling bin on my floor. There's been one all four years. I hate throwing away recyclables. I asked housekeeping, housekeeping said it was the job of the environmental club, so I asked Andrew, and he said it's B&G's job, and I should put in a work order, but apparently B&G doesn't want to do it this year. _

I counted seminar readings this evening, how many we do while we're here. Not how many classes, but how many different things we read. We do 110, at least in Annapolis. Hegel is 90. The Descartes the Juniors are doing is 65, and the Bible is 35. _

I tried to go look up the prononciation of Hegel and bagel this evening on oed.com, and it didn't work. So I went to dictionary.com, and Nate is wrong. _

Mr. Schulman seems to have issues with the translation of Hegel everyone reads, and has in both of our Hegel seminars told us about the German of certain words.

Today when he was asking our opening question, Mr. Black thought we'd read more than we had, and started asking a question about a passage that was beyond where we'd stopped. The entire table seemed a little distressed, and we were all looking at each other, confusedly, Mr. Schulman checked the seminar reading list, and eventually someone got up the nerve to say something about it. _

In response to the lack of light in my room in Chase, I'm thinking of getting Christmas tree lights and lining my room (where the walls and ceilings meet, maybe going around the door and window). Are they terribly expensive, and where can you purchase them this time of year? _

Last night, while I soaked my new brita filter, I filled out the precept list. I put down that Livy, Euripides and Homer, and then added a note to the effect that I have an extremely strong preference to be in either the Livy or the Euripides, so if they could work me into one of those, I would be extremely happy/grateful; that I had put down the Homer because I am interested in Homer, but mostly because they wanted me to put down three. Now hopefully they will put me in one of the two I really want. _

I have been reading Wicked. I'm really enjoying it, and it's making me wish I'd read the Oz books. _

Indian dinner was lovely. Mmm. I love Indian food. I wonder if I am disappointed by Mr. David doing a precept this year more because it means there will be no Mr. David and Greek for Tori this fall which made me immensely happy, or if it is because there would be no precept party with delightful Indian food. _

The good news is that Connor managed to find my USB cable, and that my meds showed up at home, and they will all shortly be mailed to me.

The bad news is that whlie Connor and I were on the phone talking about this and other stuff (the humour of his friend Dan Schiffron joining the Marines and how depressing it would be if he did, not the least because of the tragedy of people making him shave his head), my light, which Katherine and I used massive amounts of duct tape to put up, fell again. _

There is a Lebanese cafe at the Harbor Center. Cassie and I ate dinner there this evening, and it made me extremely happy to eat felafels and yogurt cucumber salad/soup and pitas and to drink Turkish coffee, where when I check to make sure that they will be adding sugar, they say "yes, yes, of course, that is how we make it" or something along those lines. Also I bought a massive amount of lindt trufles for not very much money, which was very very cool. _

My light has been retaped to my ceiling with white duct tape, and hopefully it will stay up this time. I bought white duct tape today cause, while it may be cheesy for things like melee weapons, when it is holding lights to my white ceiling and walls, it ought to be white. _

So my light has managed to fall down completely at this point, so I took it down, and apart, but I don't know where to put it now. I don't know how to secure it to the ceiling so that it won't continue to fall down. It came with these screw-in hooks, but we couldn't get those to go through the ceiling. Does anyone have any suggestions? _

My AC broke in the middle of the night. I was sleeping and it started making this weird scary noise, and it woke me up, but not all the way, at least not at first, cause I stood there and hit my alarm clock for a while, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't stop making noises, and then eventually it dawned on me that it wasn't my alarm clock noise at all, and my first thought was that my computer was breaking, but then it occured to me that it sounded more like my AC, and that was it, so I turned it off. I considered calling switchboard then to put in a work order, but I also wasn't thinking entirely coherantly at the time, so I decided against that idea, cause I might not've been able to do things like tell them what room I lived in. So I called when I woke up for real. And B&G didn't come today to fix my AC, and so it's hot and stuffy and it smells like burnt popcorn in here. Fortunately, I have a fan, but unfortunately, it's about 10" in diameter, so it's not a very big and powerful fan. I have it pointed at my bed, so I can sleep. _
