Sometimes people just miss the point entirely when you try to tell them to stop being unnecassarily bitchy. _

"Never was a cornflake girl
thought that was a good solution
hangin with the rasin girls
she's gone to the other side
givin us a yo heave ho
thigns are getting kind of gross
and I go at sleepy time
this is not really happening
you bet your life it is

She knows what's going on
Seems we got a cheaper feel now all the sweateaze are gone
Gone to the other side
with my encyclopedia
they musta paid her a nice price
she's putting on a string bean love
this isn ot really happening
you bet your life it is..." --Tori Amos _

I have had a realiziation. It is not that I dislike sad things, or even those Oscar Wilde faerie tales (although I still cannot stand the Giving Tree). It's that I think there is a time and a place for sad things, and when I go to Storytellers, I'm looking for something fun and entertaing, that is not likely to make me feel depressed. However lovely Mr. Ting is at reading the sad stories. That is all. _

Bookends is the weirdest of their albums. Many of the songs make me wonder what drugs they were on. _

Except when I'm stuck with someone who has driven me crazy since Freshman math in my lab group while we do interesting things playing with light, I quite like Optics. I quite liked Mechanics as well, especially when people in my class got off of talking about putting things on boats. I think I like lab in general this year, which is nice. _

I went to the placement office this afternoon to ask them about the summer Latin course they do at Berkely that Mary did last summer, and they stared at me blankly and said, huh? Um...I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm sorry, cna I send you something in campus mail when I figure it out? And this was right after yet another disappointing trip to the bookstore. _

Playing with flashlights in a dark room in Lab is almost as much fun as getting bored at your parents' work and going off and sitting in the revolving darkroom door with a pack of wintergreen lifesavers. _

It's weird, hating Fridays. Everyone else sort of breathes a sigh of relief when Fridays come, but I hate Fridays. _

"Woodie Guthrie carves a sign in his guitar,
says 'this machine kills fascists.'
Ani DiFranco says 'every tool is a weapon if you hold it right.'
I say: 'here's a monkey wrench. If you bop me on the head long enough with it
maybe I'll wake up for a sec." (Again, Dan Bern, this time from a song, which, unfortunately, all I can remember is what album it's on, and Mr. Ressler has my CD.) _

An odd moment occured in the Coffee Shop where this guy who has been in every math class at St. John's asked me if I understood today's homework. Cause, well, freshman and sophomore year, I did understand the homework. But this year it boggles my mind. _
