Dahlia Lithwick cuts loose on the new vegetable front in the culture wars.
"Think about it. If the asparagus and broccoli are really coming to knock down our doors and kidnap our children, can helicopters loaded with cauliflower really be that far behind? And what of the eggplant in night-vision goggles? If we're soon to be governed by a totalitarian taxonomy of toxic greens, who—one wonders—will sound the warning against the tyrannical field peas?"
I'm really curious what comes next after gay marriage and gay enlistment as the cultural-signifying political issue. I hope it's not cauliflower. I hate cauliflower. You all are going to lose me on the cauliflower.

It's somehow satisfying to be cut off by an aggressive driver sporting a coexist bumper sticker.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has some very odd things. This was the most divisive item. I thought it was gorgeous, and entirely in line with the aesthetic of the room, which otherwise contained beautiful scrolls. Erika thought it was ghastly.

I'm still confused about what happened, but on if it's the case that this is the end of earmarks and omnibus spending bills, and that they were killed by increased transparency and accountability, that seems historic and wonderful. Particularly if they managed to do it without a stupid government shutdown.

I am now officially eccentric enough to juggle at work in my cubicle. Well, eccentric enough, and good enough at juggling.

Is it just me and my particular sensitivities, or is the monarchy everywhere lately? The bozo prince even showed up on my corporate homepage for some publicity stunt involving large currency trades. And if they think I want to see a feel-good movie about George VI's stutter, they've got another thing coming.
