I have no idea what to think about this story. Other than the internet causes scaling issues, because the whole world gets interested in totally random local stories if the footage is good. Which I'm making worse by linking to it. I can't actually bring myself to say it's a problem that people are afraid to throw away other people's cats, though. Let this be a lesson to us all, I suppose. As a rule I limit myself to tickling neighbor cats, but I have been known to entrap my own cat for no particular reason I would care to explain to a global audience.

They have my bus! Because I haven't been able to get up in the mornings, I've been driving, but it's nice to know the future is here.

I came back from leave, and there were chocolate puddings of the correct brand in the refrigerator at work. I have been monitoring them carefully to make sure they actually aren't being eaten, and concluded that I must have left them there. So I am now gingerly devouring them. I have a terrible fear of eating other people's lunches.

I am somewhere in the 2nd season of the Wire. It's excellent. That said, I have two complaints: a) I watch it with my hand near the rewind and subtitle buttons. I'm not sure if this is actually a complaint. It would be if I didn't have them, though. I realize they like pretending to be surviellence cameras, but it's so much easier to understand who people are and what they're saying if you can see their faces. b) It is written by someone who, like many total jerks, thinks everyone is a total jerk. Again, I'm not sure this is actually a complaint. It's a worldview, certainly, and makes for good TV. I guess I just don't like it being called realism. That said, it gets all sorts of bonus points for not jiggling the camera at me or having standard action sequences.

Today I learned that I did not in fact correctly understand how my health insurance worked when I did my little spreadsheet to decide which option I wanted. And I am what Aristotle would have called a Natural Accountant, and used to work for a health insurance company. Nothing catastrophic, mind, just interesting that I got it wrong. I suppose if I'd just picked one blindly I never would have realized I didn't understand. (In particular, I thought $1k individual/$2k family meant no more than $1k per person, and no more than $2k per family. I'm still not sure what it does mean. It seems like it might actually mean 1kN + 1k, where N is the number of family members. Either that or it just means 2k.

Should I feel guilty for checking email at a traffic light? (assuming I don't cause significant delay and put it down when the light changes) I can't see a problem with it, except that it may be a gateway to dangerous behavior.

I find the "Platinum Green" designation delightfully ridiculous. I heard it on the radio, and thought it was Elite Platinum Green, but alas, it's LEED Platinum Green. You'd think they'd at least have gone with copper. Copper plaques would go a lovely green.
