It is true that occasionally you ask a computer to do something, and it does it in a painfully slow, annoying way, and you're like, if I could have just written my request in a proper programming language rather than through your silly GUI, you could have answered my question in seconds, rather than minutes! But this doesn't make GUI's useless. It just means they need more options. (Like, a 'search in existing results' radio button, in today's case)

With my slightly uncooperative knee, this is the first year that I've really felt not young. I never exactly felt young, I was certainly never fit, but there was always the vague sense that I could probably vaguely approximate any normal human activity without it hurting, and I've never had something that didn't get better before. Not that it isn't better, but it isn't right, either. I'm okay with getting older, it just requires rearranging how you think about stuff.

Turning the flash off is the first lesson every camera owner needs to learn. I generally resist pedantry and related sins, but the waves of flashes at, say, football stadiums fill me with contempt for my fellow shutterbugs. Often it doesn't matter, but when photographing cats, it's vital. I mean, look at these poor half-blinded moggies.
