Bill Littlefield, in verse, on the latest Red Sox drug, um, it seems excessive to even call it news, let alone a scandal. Anyway, it's an excellent little poem. Make sure to listen, the text is only the beginning. Interest in baseball entirely unnecessary.

Also: Just because in a certain sense it would be easier to put the mailbox on top of an 8' pole (no sawing required!), this does not mean it is a good idea. It would probably stop being amusing fairly quickly. Which leaves the question, do I do it momentarily, and take a picture? Or am I afraid of Neighborly Disapproval Of Levity?
This is why people shouldn't trust me with a house.

An 8' bit of wood will fit in a Honda Fit without any real difficulty, as long as there are no passengers.

There is a new series of Monkey Island games for the Wii download service. I am tempted. I am also curious about the old games, whether they owe anything to PG Wodehouse other than the name Threepwood.

Septimus Severus has a higher google rank than Severus Snape, when searching for Severus. I am frankly astounded. Reading Gibbon makes the crimes and hazards of modern politics seem astonishingly sedate. It is also strange reading an author whose idea of modern warfare is the English Civil War. The book simply doesn't read as old as it is. There's a good argument in it against extradition treaties that I should post. It is the sort of book that begs to be rifled for odd thoughts which could be applied or misapplied to modern life.

I've gone and done it, ordered a new computer, after realizing that I was getting accustomed to my computer crashing during boot-up every week or so, and that this probably wasn't a stable situation.

Old orchard beach has rather impressive 9 foot tides. Watching it come in from under the pier is something, the waves crashing against each row of pillars. _respond?
