I'm not sure how much I'm willing to pay for the ability to pay a bill online, it's less than 3.50.

If you believe the town website, the hill we're living on was at one point called Whortleberry Hill. Whortleberry doesn't scan nearly so well as blueberry.

My interactions with Verizon around this move have actually been pretty good, if you discount the deeply hostile menu. I really come away with the feeling that the Verizon Voice woman has this abiding hatred for me.

Does preserving the geographical meaningfulness of telephones still make sense? Is there really a local exchange somewhere that cares what the first 3 digits of my local phone number are? The cost in wrong numbers is significant. A system where you just dial a persons ID number and it connects to wherever they're plugged in at the moment would seem completely feasible at this point. We're moving 3 miles, but can't keep our number. 781 862 instead of 781 648.
I suppose long-distance charges would have to die first, but they seem to be very nearly gone.
