I have waved Obama signs at people stuck in traffic. Even if it wasn't politically useful, we provided mild entertainment to the suffering masses, and provided affirmation to the Obama people, who honked. There were some very nice Huckabee signwavers sharing our island.

Vote Hillary, she won't get it done!: Kaus endorses Clinton as being the least likely of the 3 remaining candidates to pass immigration reform. I agree that Clinton's 'baptism by fire', as she puts it, makes her politically cautious and less likely to get stuff done, and share his general distrust of the sincerity of her convictions.

I found a way to attach my stained glass obama logo to the front window, so it's visible from outside. Now I just have to remember not to open the window... _respond?

Have made it through the first two books of V for Vendetta, and feel in dire need of a break. I've never seen anything hit the sex=death thing quite so ham-fistedly. (Then again, I've never read a superhero comic before). I'm really torn, trying to decide how self-aware it is. Does it know that it's precisely the same sort of hate-filled fantasy projection of it's particular world-view that it has the fascists showing on the TV with "Storm Saxon"? I'm reading it to get a better understanding of the survivalist world-view, and I'm not disappointed.

Queen of the trolls: Anne Coulter is amazingly good at what she does, and we live in a society that rewards excellence of all kinds. On the very narrow point, I think she's right about Clinton and McCain on torture. Otherwise, though, I'm afraid she's wrong about McCain, which is too bad.

Roommate watch: Mr. Carney on earmarks. Knowing Mr. Carney, lets just say I wouldn't assume that the assertion that Clinton is "Congress' leading porker" is based on some empirical measure, but he makes a few good points. Also, this formulation is classic insinuation: "It might be impossible to track down how many more Hsus and Congels are out there filling Clinton's coffers and pocketing taxpayer dollars." (via instapundit, who says 'Indeed', as is his wont)

China plans to halt rain for the olympics "The bureau of weather modification was established in the 1980s and is now believed to be the largest in the world. It has a reserve army of 37,000 people -- most of them sort of weekend warriors who are called to duty during unusual droughts. The bureau has 30 aircraft, 4,000 rocket launchers and 7,000 antiaircraft guns, said Wang Guohe, director of weather modification for the Chinese Academy of Meteorology."

Evidence of conservative tendencies: I'm upset because Weather Underground changed it's weather icons, despite the indisputable fact that the old ones were hideous.
