okay, so, I didn't actually measure anything, so bear with me. but it was much better than I expected. Start with a half recipe of my experimental oatmeal molasses bread, spread in a oiled pie plate and allowed to rise. cover with a cup or so of shredded mozzella. Top with sauce, toss in oven at 400 for 20 minutes or so.Oh right, sauce. put some oil in a dutch oven, put in a dozen cardomom pods, and a teaspoon or so of cumin, cook until the cardomom starts to pop. put in a tablespoon of garam masala, let it cook for a couple seconds, then add 4 onions sliced into thin half-rings, and some brown sugar and salt. cook, stirring occasionally until caramelized or bored. Add 8 oz canned tomato sauce, the stuff that tastes like spaghettios, and 2 cups of leftover shredded chicken breasts. season with salt, pepper and MSG. heat through.
I like eating cooked whole cardomom, but some people might want to pick it out. _

The weather was great. I didn't take any pictures of the Ron Paul idiots, but I no longer find them amusing. They spent the entire speech waving signs and chanting. _respond?

Taken at the beginning of his speech. Notice all the viewfinders. As soon as Obama started speaking, everybody on the hill stood up, which made getting steady photographs rather difficult. That's Obama at the platform in gray, Deval Patrick in black and red to his right. The contrast between them was striking; the governor spoke in soundbites and came across as a bit vapid, and I'm afraid I was drawn to heckle. Obama speaks in paragraphs, and kept me engrossed. _respond?

My cold is gone! It must be that one horrible zinc coughdrop I took a week and a half ago.

I am yet to find Colbert funny. Haha, look at me, I'm stupid and obnoxious, just like other people! It's satire! I mean, yes, I campaigned for class president, but I had enough respect not to get on the ballot. He's rather like Lemony Snickett. Not being funny is only funny for a limited time, and intentional kitsch is hard to tell from outright rubbish. Hodgman, on the other hand, is a genius. I can't quite explain the difference, and this bothers me. For the record, I find Jon Stewart sporadically funny; he has some good material but painful delivery. Watching the daily show proper, as opposed to webclips, makes come out in conservative impulses all over, so I don't. (or didn't, when I still had free cable, but the point remains)

General Zia had one of the great villian mustaches of all time. I still don't feel I understand modern Pakistani history, or to comprehend what is happening with the princesses return, but this much I have learned. Also, I must admit, she's an impressive princess. Particularly if you adopt the good-enough-by-local-standards conspiracy theory that she was expecting the attack.
Also: the world is large and complicated.

Debugging SAS is like running in sand. Coding SAS is indistinguishable from debugging SAS. Thankfully, I'm only dealing with a million rows right now.

There's going to be a free Obama rally somewhere (undecided) in Boston next Tuesday, 7pm. If I am not tired or lazy or making up for past tired laziness with a poorly timed burst of productivity, I will go.

I seem to be most productive between the hours of 4pm and 1am. This is not optimal.
