I've got one of those finger safe desk fans, with no sort of casing at all... The cat just got in a fight with it. I think it won. I don't know what the cat learned, but I think he learned something. I'm now a bit worried to turn the fan off, because he might go after it when it's defenses are down.

I'm putting together an Alva Desk. It's like an Advanced IKEA set! 34 wooden pieces, 44 dowls, and 240 screws, hinges and assorted. But it's a solid wood desk! The volcano of employment would have supplied a desk, me being a work-at-home (WAH). But it would have been unpleasant and wouldn't have fit into the room anyway. One of the myriad benefits of IKEA is that you can assemble furniture in the room, ship-in-bottle like. Sometimes I think I would be happier working for an IKEA assembly service.

Went for a walk today, around the swamp surrounding the Concord river in Bedford. Saw an emu. Sitting behind a building, fenced in. Came up and begged for food. Apparently that's where Harvard evolutionary biologists go when they want to put emus, or, say, wallabys, or monitor lizards, on treadmills. Or parakeets in wind tunnels. Of course, no camera. Which just goes to show, always carry a camera, because you never know when you'll come across an emu.

At Habitat, which is a vast estate turned Audobon park up on the hill in Belmont, about 2.5 miles from here. Some of the houses on the way are a bit garish. For some reason, the turkey didn't want me getting a clear line of sight.
