That's where a stream flows into the lake. I tried to paddle up it, but gave up at the second tree. I hate to think how many spider-hours of labor I destroyed in the attempt.

Hatching Tadpoles
Along with the cranes going along devouring them by the dozen, they also had to contend with a beautiful water snake. There were these green sacks all over the pond, most of them opaque.

Poor nest location
A robin had built a nest just below the deck. This turned out to be a source of stress for the robin. We have reports that the eggs did hatch, and they have since fledged.
