current shadows
Shadows of currents never fail to fascinate me.

This is a trying to be a picture of 3 different things, which is probably a mistake.

Hoofprints
After reading about color filters in black and white photography, I wondered what could be done by meddling with the various colors seperately before pressing Ctrl-Shift-U

This nonsense about progressive women being less happy than traditional women, regardless of role, misses the point entirely. Being progressive isn't genetic. Turn it around and it makes perfect sense: unhappy women are more likely to embrace progressive ideas. Revolutionaries are, on average, less content than the general population. This is not interesting, and says nothing about the merits of either philosophy.

I feel I should learn more about early American political history; in particular, how the tradition of 8 year term limits came to be, and how we avoided the traps that so many new democracies seem to run aground upon. Where was our Putin, our Castro, our Napoleon? The trouble is that I am worried that I will be unable to penetrate the endless layers of soft-focus dribble accompanied by fife and drum about the founding fathers. Any recommendations?

On the way to the beach, we drive past the Myopia Hunt Club, apparently so named because all 5 founders wore glasses.

Octavia Butler died last week. Bloodchild is one of the cleverest tricks an author ever pulled on me.

52nd anniversary since the hydrogen bomb test at Bikini Atoll. Tourists can now visit the islands, but they still isn't safe for habitation due to contamination of the food chain. The explosion was 3 times more powerful than expected. The moral is to always remember that scientists are guessing, but that they will rarely admit it.

Pity my gray hairs: One of them just fell out. Sad, I don't have many of them, they're valuable. This one was about 15 inches long.
