Lately I've been putting all my to do lists on paper. This is good because it is satisfying to physically cross things off, and because it gives me fewer excuses to go near the computer while I am doing stuff. On the other hand, I just dropped my pen into the toilet as it was flushing post bowl cleaning. I was trying to cross that task off the list. Nice. Thankfully I managed to retrieve the pen with a mangled wire hanger, so at least I don't have to add a new series of line items that read:

*Take toilet off base and turn upside down to retrieve pen

*Find out size of wax ring

*Buy new wax ring

*Put toilet back together

I was really not looking forward to that. Gah. Moral of the story: Don't cross off list items until they are completely done? I guess? _

I uploaded two photos to Flickr yesterday so I could show someone my grandmother's china plates. The pictures definitely uploaded, and stayed up long enough for Sarah to comment on them. I went to Flickr this morning, though, and upon trying to reply to Sarah's comments, received an error message telling me that the photos are not there. Just those two are gone. I did not remove them. They had no questionable content (they are of plates and teacups). I am perplexed (and a little unnerved). _

Seems to be under control for the nonce. Brief regression when the drain pipe came apart at a higher level, but the (upstairs) neighbors helped reconnect it, and then also found the missing bottom part. We've now got it on, but we still have the shovel and trash bags in place because the ice is inclined to make a funnel right to the leaky wall without such measures. Landlord is coming tomorrow. Hopefully he will fix it. _

To clean silver:

Fill your kitchen sink with enough hot water to cover the object(s) you wish to clean. Add baking soda and a bit of aluminum foil. Place your silver in the water, making sure it touches the aluminum foil, and marvel as the tarnish magically disappears. It really is that easy. I'll have to do a before and after picture post about this tomorrow. _
