*Walk to City Paint and see about procuring Shimmerstone or similar Despite being one of the few retailers around that is suppose to carry Shimmerstone, City Paint apparently doesn't. They had no idea what I was talking about. But they had your basic glazes and I got one and paint color to mix with it and a small sea sponge and some cheesecloth to use for the colorwashing. I resisted the urge to get metallic glaze, or glitter glaze, or glow in the dark or chalkboard paint. This time.

This morning I ordered my NaNoWriMo t-shirt and put in my $10.00 donation. I also remembered to take the trash out and water the plants. What I didn't remember to do was eat breakfast. I realized my error a few minutes ago when I suddenly felt lightheaded while standing on a stepladder with a paintbrush in my hand. Bad Julia! I am now eating lunch, though, so that's good.

2) Once while Moss and I were visiting a Russian fort in Northern California, we saw a girl in the 8-10 age range ask her companion, "Do you know what I am?" When her companion said no, the girl said, "I'm an octopus, raaaarrrrr!" and grabbed her companion's head.

It's October, which is NaNoWriMo pre-season. I've just registered again on their site. I am thinking of trying my hand at a young adult fiction thing along the lines of The Princess Diaries this year because all the old journal reading has got that sort of thing on my brain. Of course I have no plot ideas, but I suppose a genre is something of a start. I really like the t-shirt design this year, which is a first. I guess I have to commit to winning it.

I love the internet. I love the fact that whenever a problem comes up I can search for phrases like "unclog garbage disposal" or "fix leak under sink" and find out exactly what I need to do to fix it. I also love the feeling of satisfaction that comes when I have successfully fixed something.
