After seeing the Magnetic Fields, I can understand why Stephin Merritt is often thought of as an unapproachable and somewhat mean person. I don't think that's actually true, though. The concert was delightful, and made me want to learn to play the ukelele. _

I was vaguely disgruntled while doing the dishes, so Moss put on Erika's Blogswap disc from last December and played "Shark Attack" by Freezepop. Then he said, "Okay look at the computer screen." He had put the young Trixie holding plastic shark picture up. If you are ever feeling vaguely disgruntled, I recommend looking at little Peeflet while listening to "Shark Attack." You're sure to find yourself properly gruntled in no time.

On a completely different note, the spam subject of the day is, "Tips for killing off deb." Moss is right to ask what deb ever did to me. _

I keep seeing spam for "popup killers," and I don't think the thought that springs to mind is what the ads intend. I imagine them as little commercial hitmen who are crosses between jack-in-the-boxes and ninjas. _

My sister's advice on how to run my life:
*Don't work at McDonald's.
*Go see Napoleon Dynamite
*Get a cell phone (Optional, but you should think about it).
*Ride your bike everyday. Bikes are wonderful things. You should just do it everyday because it's fun to do.
*Wash your feet everyday because if you don't they'll end up smelling horrible. ("Do my feet smell horrible?" "No, I just thought about it now because I took off my shoes...").
*Don't relent with the um, the plans to take over the world, make sure you're always working on that.
*Look at the stars whenever you can.
*Don't work at McDonald's. Write that one down at the bottom so you don't forget.

"I think that's all, but I might call you more with tips, guidelines... oh yeah, you should go to hot yoga..." _

T.I.A.I.L.W. Cliff and Luna bars. They have this magical way of satisfying my desire for sweet stuff while still having nutritional merit. They fit easily into a pocket or purse. They aren't perishable. They actually taste good (perhaps because the makers claim to have made them out of desperation for nutrition bars that didn't taste like crap). I'm smitten. _

Covet. I tried Moss's mother's yesterday and found that 1) It is indeed painful, as the packaging warns, 2) I can sustain the hula hooping things with a weighted hoop way more than I can with a non-weighted one, and 3) It's addictive. Once you get going you sort of forget about the pain, and it never hurts on your back anyway, just on your stomach. _

I had a dream in which J. K. Rowling announced that the sixth book was actually going to be called Harry Potter and the One-eyed Snake. Said Ms. Rowling in an interview, "Well, Harry's of an age now where he's really focusing a lot on getting some along with fighting evil." She didn't say whether he'd actually get busy, though. _

To do June 30th:

*Wake before ten Barely.

*Eat sensible breakfast Oatmeal.

*Exercise Pliés and other grueling ballet warm ups learned from Caprina Lynn.

*Respond to e-mail Finally. I am such an inconsistent correspondent.

*Check over story and put in envelope Surpisingly lengthy process ivolving checking address fifty times to make sure is correct.

*Drink 20 ounces of water

*Take envelope to post office and send it

*Lunch and 20 ounces of water Spaghetti!

*Watch Gay Purr-ee So, if you watch Gay Purr-ee in French and turn on the French subtitles, you'll notice that they are not the same! It's two completely different translations. I mean it all amounts to the same story, but... it was strange and mesmerizing. How often does that sort of thing happen I wonder.

*Work on Fifty Photographs project a bit

*Do dishes

*Drink 20 ounces of water

*Eat dinner and drink more water

*Learn more German _

To do:

*Arise no later than ten 9:30.

*Eat a sensible breakfast Ice cream. What? It's totally sensible. It's got loads of... calcium! See?

*Bathe

*Mend hole in pants Harder than one might think. Damnable lack of depth perception. You ever try to thread a needle with no depth perception? And no hand-eye coordination? I don't recommend it.

*Dress Julia is sporting a lovely bright greet t-shirt and maroon velour pants Velvety pants the exact color of a rich glass of perfectly aged claret. Matching is for squares.

*Get some exercise Yoga and stretches on the deck.

*Drink 20 ounces of Water

*Clean up story and prepare it for mailing Though I am going to work on it more later. I don't trust myself to catch mistakes today. Too clumsy.

*Drink 20 ounces of water

*Eat lunch Soup!

*Make another to do list _

My grandfather and I have always celebrated our birthdays on the same day, but recently he found records indicating he was actually born on the twenty-seventh of May. It is strange to think this is not his birthday. Does not compute. My mother thinks it is fitting, though, as my sister was born on the day after my grandmother's birthday. _

A sign that writing has fried my brain: I was scouting out new markets to submit stories to, and noticed that Playboy pays really well.
