{watching Yo Yo Ma play Hadyn on PBS}

My Dad: If only we had more guys like him in Iraq today...
Me:
My Dad: No, seriously. Can you imagine? Instead of armed combatants -- twenty five thousand cellists! It would just be so much easier.
Me: Uhhh...
My Dad: It only occurred to me a second ago, as I was watching it. But you know I'm right. _

New email address, mainly for job searching, 'cause catholic.org was unreliable (too much downtime, plus it kept getting caught in various spamtrappers, probably 'cause it's free and exploited by the unscrupulous) and possibly kooky to the point of being offputting. I mean, I liked it. I thought it was neat. But what do I know? I'll keep using it, naturally, but I finally sucked it up and got me a pay account for the practical biz. So if you can't get through to the thomasaquinas one, or it offends your sensibilities, or whatever, feel free: mkk @ parfitgentil dot net. _

Too much and not enough. Croquet was wonderful. I didn't see enough of any of you. It was too, too, too short. And I'm really sorry for saying we would go to Cotillion and then not going. That's no good. But please forgive me. I miss you all like crazy. What's in my heart right now... I... oof. I've decided not to join the Peace Corps. I'm going to save up what money I can and look for a job in New York City. The T.I.A.I.L.W. service has been discontinued until further notice (but don't hold your breath, 'cause... ohhhh). I wish I could have had more time, more time here and more time in Annapolis and I wish I could live for four hundred years. Maybe I will. I'm so lucky to know you, my sweet Johnnies, even if we only get glimpses of each other. They'll last for a little while, and then there'll be more. Thank God for the internet. I was kind of looking forward to being incommunicado, alone on the other side of the world. I've got that impulse in me, and it's not something I can argue with. But it's not winning right now. I'm full up -- brimming, grinning, melancholy, and grateful. _

No, wait, but I do have to blog about this: I've forgotten all my Annapoloidian skillz. What's the best way to get into town from New Carrollton at midnight or so of a Friday? Taxicab, yuss? We'll be coming down by bus to D.C.'s Chinatown -- leaving NYC at about six, I think, and it'll take six hours, more or less. But the D.C. Metro runs 'til 2:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, right? It better. I dunno. I'll work it out. But advice is welcome. _

So apparently I've been shooting myself in the foot by sending out resumes in .rtf format. I thought it would be the most flexible and compatible. Guess I'm wrong. So, what instead? Should it be .txt and crummy? Or .doc and Microsnorffed? Or should it be in the body of the message, rather than as an attachment? Bah. _
