Bloglet, the gentleman's mock turtle soup -- Moss made it sweeter than myrrh ash and dhoup
"Wow. That would be cool, if, like, people could have sexuality-wide conventions, and, like, rent out hotels and community centers and, like, have name tags and speakers. They could have a seminar on 'How to Anger Desiccated Millionaires With Your Sexual Practices.' Hot. They could even have them at Helmsley hotels. And then it would be sort of like the time Great-Aunt Vivian was staying with us, and we had Daniel and Steve over and made them hold hands just to piss her off, and it did, and she called them 'inverts' and spat a lot when she talked. Inverts. That was funny."

The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship is on The Pea Green Boat! I read this at storytellers' last year when I was writing my essay, in honor of its subject, the Fool. I didn't do it half as well as Robin Williams, though. Damn.

I put some of my mixes up on Art of the Mix, and made graphics for 'em. So if you have the slightest inclination to print 'em out and put 'em with my blogswap CDs, um... have fun. I also had an hour-long argument with my ma about why I would want to put a word like "dyke" in my profile. We didn't resolve much between us, but it was a good bout of chest-thumping all the same. Anyway, all I wanted to say is that Art of the Mix is freaking luverly. I hope I get the nerve up to start trading with some of these people maybe sometime, too. Oh, and see if you can find the subliminal message in the picture for my "Sordid" mix. All graphics shamelessly stolen from Google Images and doctored by Mirabai "Sleepless" Knight, all spites deserved.

I've done three nights at my new job. One more, and then I get three days off. It's pretty hard work and kind of crazy, but I'm enjoying it so far. More after I surface from my plunge into oblivion.

While looking at the liner notes for the Haydn masses my mom gave me, I saw that the German translation of Kyrie eleison was "Herr, erbarme dich." I knew that the incredible aria in the St. Matthew Passion, "Erbarme dich, Mein Gott", when Peter is weeping bitterly for denying Jesus three times, meant "Forgive me, my god", but I never made the connection between "Forgive me" and "Have mercy". But if that's really the standard German translation, then Bach had Peter singing the first Kyrie, sort of. It's strange, but it seems right.

I also heard the NPR bit about punks who listen to opera, and it made me wonder about other demographics... like, are there opera stoners?
"Dude... oh my god. I totally see it. It's all clear to me now."
"Uhhhh... what? I was totally getting hypnotized by Joan Sutherland's boobs. They're, like, moving independently, in these infinite circles, around and around and around, every time she does a portamento. You should totally check this out, man."
"No! Listen to me! I'm serious, this is so important. She's Norma, right? And she loses her Druid groove when she goes off with a Roman. Don't you understand? Roman. Norma. Norma. Roman. You just shuffle the letters, and, like, the whole plot is all. right. there. This is incredible."
"Look! Look! She's banging the gong! Banging the gong! Ganging the bong! Huh huh huh huh... bang a gong! Get it on! Vestal virgin? Not for long! Fweee heee hee ha ha..."
"Dude, is it just me, or has this opera been going on for, like, ten hours?"
