A young man of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll
While bent over plucking a dingle
Had the whole Eisteddfod
Taking turns at his pod
While they sang some impossible jingle.
-- from 1001 Lewdest Limericks, the book that happens to have been sitting at the foot of my bed all night

Collegium was tonight. God, it was odd. My body never gives me any warning; about a second before I'm gonna ralph is the first time I feel it, and it's the same way with tears. I've had an amazingly happy week; for some reason, maybe the weather, maybe the beauty of the place, or the people, or the books, or the sleep-dep, the last few days have had my smiling like an idiot at everything. Life just feels really good around now; no reason why. Anyway, so I'm sitting in my chair, fiddle-dee-dee, looking forward to a night of lovely music, and freshman chorus gets up and sings Ave Verum Corpus, and like a wrecking ball in the back of the head, my face screws up and I'm crying (no noise, at least) puddles without even knowing what I'm feeling or why. And as soon as they stop, I dry up, and smile again, and twiddle my thumbs through the next song, and then Catherine Greco plays part of a Mozart concerto on her clarinet, and -- no warning, again -- I can hardly see, and my face is hot, and I'm holding my head in my hands. The rest of the concert was fine; nice stuff, y'know, good amateur Johnnies with good hearts. And then they sung Sicut Cervus and I guess I was ready for it by then, though I still didn't feel it coming. And I don't know; it's not like I was consciously thinking "This is the very last time I'll ever hear Freshman chorus sing" and making myself all tragic weepy, or anything. It was weird; it was visceral. Guess I'm just a sissy-girl. Well, above anything else, it was beautiful to sit there and listen, 'cause it always is. Man.

Oh, gawd. Operatic Limericks (don't hurt me!) from a charming young gentleman's website.
Flight of Fancy
A lister who sang out his travel plan
Checked in posing as Beethoven, Ludwig van.
His no-frills rendition
Stirred up K-9 suspicion
As they looked for a Böhm in his Karajan.
The Tenor
A tenor, once known for his miming,
Was asked re engagements declining.
Just shy of one beat
He jumped to his feet:
"Could it be my very slightly off but still wonderful sense of timing?"
I'd Walk the Nile for One of your Smiles
A Ramfis with golden Bronx voice
Lost that je ne sais quoi (it got woice).
His career took a veer
(Wayward spear from the rear)
Now his fached-up Aida's first choice.
What a labyrinth.

The whole "sit in the computer lab and refuse to leave until someone posts something on my yahoogroup" stratagem is failing to work, somehow.

I hate blog rollovers. I sorta wish I had a blog like Martin's or Tania's or Ariadne's or Jack's, that just gently eased you from one week's worth of brain pudding to the next.
