Well, that was one of the nicer compliments. Ariadne just said to me, "You have the Will to Power!" Now, of course, she's a freshman, and is not allowed to speak, or indeed, know of such things, but... it was flattering anyway.

You guys have probably seen this bizarre and not very tasteful flash animation. I just did. The ones who don't like non sequiturs shouldn't see it, of course, because wit is not what it is. What it is is odd, and the ones who like odd things should maybe see it, if they haven't. I think, at least. Dunno if there's any sound to it 'cause I'm in the computer lab. Confused, bemused, boozed, enthused, bruised, used. Used in the propagation of silly internet thingies. For shame.

The freshmen next door sure dance a lot. I've heard them play The Bottle Dance from Fiddler on the roof at least five times. Right now they're dancing to Louis Prima, and they've been working on celtic fiddle dancing too. Oh, and on paper nights they squeal and run into the walls.

I just like succumbing to peer pressure. When I was a kid, so few of my peers had cool vices, and even fewer of them tried to seduce me into 'em, but here on the blogmass, y'all are irresistable. So, following on the derivative track of the magnificent Mr. Gillen (and his brave disciple Ms. Sherman), Today (this is not necessarily recurring, at least not on any particular timetable) I am in love with Marlene Dietrich.

Ok, wait a second. Say you've got a German comedian, and his speciality is doing impressions of Spanish bullfighters. So he speaks German with a Spanish accent, yes. But what if he tries to break into the American market -- presumably he'd speak English with a German accent -- but what would his bullfighter impression sound like in English? Hum!
And another thing I wonder... a lot of people down here learn Spanish and English nearly simultaneously; their parents are bilingual, their friends are bilingual, y'know; and they have a distinct accent in English, though it can be considered their first language (along with Spanish). I don't know any actual Mexican people very closely, so I haven't been able to compare their English with New Mexicans' English. But I wonder -- what do they sound like in Spanish? Do they have a fluent but vaguely American accent, the way they have a fluent but vaguely Spanish accent in English? I wish I had a way to test this empirically.
